Greetings from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department! We hope that your holiday season is filled with joy and spent with family as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the dawn of the New Year. During this busy time of the year, be sure and take time out to visit with those who may be home alone and without family. Spreading cheer to those less fortunate will yield tremendous results and will certainly warm your heart as well.
We ask that you keep our Deputies, Investigators, Corrections Officers and Civilian Employees in your prayers as they go about the task of providing professional, community oriented law enforcement services to our citizens and to visitors to Jones County. As you are aware, law enforcement is an inherently dangerous occupation and the threats to deputies and police officers around the country are on the rise. Regardless of the danger, our team is committed to helping ensure your safety and you can count on us to respond to your call for assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Please be sure to keep an eye out this holiday season for anything that looks suspicious in your neighborhood. Unfortunately, we generally see a rise in property crimes, especially burglaries, during the holidays and your vigilance can help us stop a crime in progress and/or help us put the pieces of the puzzle together to solve a crime and apprehend a criminal. In addition, our department will be participating in the “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” campaign during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. We will have safety checkpoints and saturation patrols all aimed at catching and removing drivers who are driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs from our roadways. Over 10,000 people are killed each year nationally in DUI crashes and often times those victims are innocent drivers and passengers in other vehicles struck by a DUI driver.
As your Sheriff, please know that I am available to discuss any concerns you may have. Please feel free to call me at the Sheriff's Office at 601-425-3147 or on cell phone at 601-498-9501. You may also reach me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or message me on Facebook on our "Jones County, MS Sheriff's Department" or "Alex Hodge" pages. Thanks so much for your support and again have a Happy New Year!
