Major Don Scott

The Criminal Investigative Division and the Narcotics Divison is under the leadership of Chief Investigator, Major Don Scott.  Captain Don Sumrall, Lieutenant Tony Stiles, Sergeant Robert Little,  Sergeant John Blakeney, Sergeant Scott Gable, Sergeant Jason Myers, Sergeant Tonya Madison, Sergeant David Ward and Sergeant Jared Lindsey make up the investigative team.  A Highway Interdiction Unit also falls under the Investigative Division.  The Investigators in this Division have benefited from a diverse level of advanced law enforcement training in crime scene investigation, interviewing, narcotics and many other areas of investigative matters.  Our investigators are highly experienced, some with more than 15 years on the job with various Departments in the State of Mississippi.

The Investigative Division primarily investigates all felony and serious misdemeanor crimes.  Combating the manufacture and distribution of narcotics is also a top priority of the Criminal Investigation Division.  The responsibility of the Investigator is to prepare the case for prosecution.   While investigating a crime the investigator will conduct their investigations in a professional manner that is conducive to the discovery of the truth and the successful prosecution of those who commit crimes in Jones County.  Once all information is compiled from the initial report, crime scenes, physical evidence and statements from witnesses and defendants, the case is put together and forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for the next phase of the judicial process.

Protecting life and property and fighting the daily battle of illegal narcotics in our communities is the focus of the Investigation Division. Information obtained from the public is also very valuable in all types of investigations.  Major Scott would like to encourage anyone with information about criminal activity, or any ongoing criminal investigations, to contact the Criminal Investigative Division.  You may also use Crime Stoppers at 601-428-7867, our tips link located on the home page or e-mail us at the links below.
