Narcotics
Narcotics are the one element in today's society that not only destroy the individuals that are utilizing and/or selling the substance, but destroy entire families and communities. To combat this evil, law enforcement agencies around the country have formed special units to fight the proliferation of drugs in their cities and counties. The dedicated men and women assigned to these special narcotic units face an enormous challenge, which takes a physical and mental toll on each individual narcotics agent.
The Jones County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division is responsible for enforcing the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and the State of Mississippi. We work very closely with our local, state and federal partners to aggressively investigate those organizations and their members involved in the growth, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances. We also recommend and support non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances. The unit is also responsible for the timely investigation of citizen complaints regarding narcotics violations.
Please call the Narcotics Division at (601) 425-3147 if you have any information regarding drug activity in your neighborhood. All calls are confidential. Illegal narcotics tips may also be reported to Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP (7867). A financial reward may be available from Crime Stoppers for crime tips.
The Narcotics Division operates under the leadership of Lieutenant Jake Driskell.
