Search & Rescue
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, members of Jones County Sheriff's Department are prepared to respond to missing persons calls. Deputies, Investigators and Civilian Staff members at the Jones County Sheriff's Department participate on the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team under the leadership on Jones County Emergency Operations Center Executive Director Paul Sheffield. Our staff members are on call to assist the county's residents and visitors who find themselves in need. They also answer calls for mutual aid from neighboring counties.
They assist in the recovery of deceased subjects, missing persons searches, aircraft related beacon searches, support of criminal investigations with evidence searches, disaster response, and general logistic support of Jones County Sheriff's Department and Jones County Emergency Management Agency personnel.
The SAR team is trained to use specialized equipment to handle a variety of emergencies and are highly proficient in search and rescue missions. Volunteer fire departments in Jones County also participate heavily in the SAR Team providing personnel, vehicles and equipment to assist in search missions.
