On March 10, 2020, the Jones County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division with Sgt. Jake Driskell, Agent Joel Brogan, and Agent Jeff Monk, supported by the Jones County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team under the command of Captain Scott Sims, conducted two no-knock search warrants simultaneously around 4:00am in the Glade and Myrick communities. Sheriff Joe Berlin and Chief Deputy Mitch Sumrall participated in the Narcotics and SWAT briefing at 3:00am and participated in the later narcotics warrant service at a residence in the Myrick Community.
A team of JCSD SWAT deputies and narcotics agents executed a search warrant at #597 Township Road in the Glade Community where narcotics agents had received numerous complaints of drug activity originating from the mobile home. JCSD SWAT deputies performed a no-knock search warrant on the residence and found it to be occupied by four individuals and an infant. The home had an extensive amount of drug paraphernalia present and even homemade BONGS (made from baby bottles) that were being used for smoking illegal narcotics. There was approximately four grams of crystal methamphetamine recovered along with the necessary items to package and sell the crystal methamphetamine. Jones County Sheriff's Department narcotics agents placed Tyler Spratlin, age19, into custody for possession of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm. If anyone is caught with narcotics and a firearm then the penalty of that charge is enhanced due to the presence of the gun. The charge could also be enhanced by being in close proximity to a park, school, or church. Tyler Spratlin will have his initial appearance on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 before a Justice Court Judge.
